Dynamic Hot Water Management Unit (DHWMU)
Save up to 25% of the fuel to your storage water heater
Most commercial properties such as nursing homes, hotels, pubs, schools, leisure centres, etc, experience unexpected demands for hot water, hence they have difficulty turning off the water heater and are therefore unable to control the costs. The water heater will often run 24 hours/day, controlled only by the thermostat. The Unit addresses this issue because it has the ability to react to the demand for hot water at all times.
How Does It Work?
The Unit is initially set to the periods of known demand for hot water, in the same way a domestic heating programmer is set at home, i.e. a hotel needs hot water from 6-9am for washing/showering, 12-2pm for catering and 4-7pm for washing/showering. Between the programmed times the temperature of the stored water is allowed to drop from 60ºC to 45ºC, making it unnecessary for the heater to fire up during this period. The Unit uses a sensor to monitor the temperature of the water and, should the stored water temperature fall below 45ºC, the Unit will consider this a demand and fire up the boiler immediately. The latter temperature can be varied, however 45ºC is an adequate hot water temperature for most if not all purposes of this nature. Once the temperature recovers to 60ºC the Unit returns to the settings of the programme.
Is My Water Heater Suitable?
The Unit is suitable for all gas/oil stored hot water systems as well as electric immersion heaters. How Does It Prove What It Is Saving?
An existing 24 hour operation of the water heater can be reduced to a 6 or 9 hour operation saving up to 25% of the fuel.Payback tables are calculated for each enquiry and issued as part of the quotation.
